Cape Cod

A few weeks ago, our close friend Becca Soule invited us up, as a family, to her cottage in Harwich, MA for her 30th birthday. As it approached, and we realized I was feeling up to it, we decided to take a 3 day family vacation to a place Emmet holds very dear, Cape Cod. Although we traveled up and back in the rain, the weather was beautiful the rest of the weekend and we had such a fun and memorable trip.

Showing Keeley the ocean was one of the most fun moments as a parent, so far

Keeley loved building sand castles and our friends were just as excited about it

One of Keeley's favorite things was the outdoor shower, because she could watch airplanes while she got clean
Our special family time, as usual, was always 6 am where we'd leave the cottage to let everyone sleep, walk the beach collecting shells, and hit up Bonatt's Bakery for pastries and coffee

Norwalk Aquarium

We had a number of fun family activities we hope to get in while Emmet was on vacation and the aquarium in Norwalk was on the top of the list. It did not disappoint! Keeley's most talked about parts where the seals and sea lions, the shallow tank where she touched a crab, and the special exhibit they had outside with "Lorakeets" who the employees held on their shoulders.

They had a great back deck on the river where we ate lunch

Heat wave

Got up to 85 degrees yesterday and Keeley was loving life in the baby pool. Emmet and I were in heaven enjoying the start of his 4 week vacation before residency orientation in our shaded yard with our baby girl splashing away.

Memorial Day Weekend

Emmet and I snuck up to Boston for two nights while Katherine, Rosalie and Tom took over at the homestead. We ended the weekend with a Ferriter-Moore BBQ, joined by Conor and Caroline on their way home from Cape Cod. After days of hard work on the patio and the backyard, I was so happy Emmet was able to have a few beers and enjoy his family in our new and improved setting.

Mother's Day in Holyoke

We had a lovely visit with Nana Mengel and the Ferriter's over Mother's Day (the highlight for Keeley being Spanish mass in downtown Holyoke complete with live musicians and beautiful songs). Oh, and of course,  the big yummy brunch at the Yankee Peddler of pancakes and sausage!

Bronx Zoo

We met up with my parents and the Gleasons at the Bronx Zoo- couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and fun day! Naturally, Emmet had to hit up Arthur Avenue for some Italian food before the zoo opened and it was delicious- we took Keels to some of the best deli and pastry shops in NYC.  Ended the day with a family dinner at the Irish Coffee Pub on Long Island to toast Emmet's graduation from medical school.
