Best Snowman in Town is Back

The first big winter storm arrived today, and we were anxious to get outside and have some fun with it. Being that it was a Saturday, and Emmet was off, we all had a chance to bundle up and "go play." Cora did not last long out in the cold, but Keeley would have built an entire snow family if she could. We had to break out our LL Bean snowman set from Ama and Papa, now famous in town to landmark the Ferriter home.

Taking Winter On

Last winter, I felt homebound a lot, with Cora still an infant and relentless storms and Emmet's tough work schedule that kept us from doing much. This year, we've been so lucky to have Emmet on a more lenient schedule since he's in an outpatient clinic in Ridgefield for a few weeks, in combination with some pretty snow and more manageable January weather. Emmet and I both love to bundle up and enjoy the winter season, so we're trying to instill that in our little girls, as well.

Go PATs

It's hard to believe I just typed that title as a New York fan, but I can't help adore this photo of Emmet and his daughters in their Pats gear. Looks like we're all invested in the Superbowl this year! Even little Cora has learned to chant "Pats!"

A glimpse into our day to day, lately

Watching TV Shows together like Daniel the Tiger, created by the makers of Mr. Rogers, which I like because it has good messages like trying new foods and being a good friend, but the jingles are so catchy from it that Emmet and I are losing our marbles.

Playing in the basement (Cora is obsessed with this lambs wool coat this month)

Keeley is really into a game that Liz bought her for Christmas called Goldie Blocks. It has an engineering concept at the heart of it, with a book that you read to them and pages that they use to follow instructions and build various contraptions. Emmet and Keeley do this during her quiet time before every night, lately, and I love the educational and fun side to the whole activity. From a teacher's standpoint, I am so impressed by the idea!

And then there's Cora -18 Months already!

This child is a little monkey, with her wispy blonde hair and big blue eyes, staring up at me from whatever mischief she is into at that moment. My biggest challenge with my little Cora Larkin this month has been getting her to sit still at the table. She fights her high chair like a beast, consistently, but is just too little for a booster (although that's all she wants since that is what Keeley has). I have tried the Little Tikes table to mix it up, as well, but regardless of the set up, mealtime at this age seems to always be a flurry or crumbs and protests. I don't know what this kid is surviving on, but she still manage to be one active little toddler, learning a ton of words day by day, and managing to be in good humor 90 percent of the time! Below are some of my attempts in getting her to sit and eat: Mom vs. Toddler- round 2.

Trip to Nanny and Papa's

A few weeks had past since Christmas and I was already itching to see my Mom and Dad, as were the girls. We headed down to WB, since Emmet was on call on the weekend, and had the added bonus of seeing Uncle Dennis while we were there.
