Catch us if you Can

One of the things I've realized after bringing my children on errands for the past four years is that now when I don't bring them, I feel like nobody even knows I am there. Even though it's a lot of work, these three crack me up as I run about town grocery shopping and picking up the necessary gifts for that week, or going to the appointments we have on the calendar. I think I finally feel comfortable jumping up to run out the door with all three of them.

Sometimes we jazz up our Caraluzzi's run by letting the girls use their own size shopping carts. Whoever thought of this is a genius.

Yup, we're up to the giant size cart at Target now. The kids call it the "Target bus"

Cora loves her story time, and loves her puzzles before it starts. A typical Tuesday or Thursday means preschool drop off, errand, story time at Brookfield or Newtown library and back to preschool for pick up.

Don't worry Maury, your whole family is here to support you for your four month shots :) Dressing up in costume makes the kids love going to the doctor, and makes a dreaded appointment become a fun adventure out for them. Dr. Aparna thought it was hilarious that we brought our own stethoscopes. Keeley cried more than Maury by the way during the immunizations. The kid is beautifully sensitive, what can I tell you? :) Cora watched in amazement, and wanted the same bandaids as he had.

Kindergarten Orientation

Everyone says it, and yet when it happens to you, it really is unbelievable. "It goes by so fast." These were the thoughts I had running through my head as I pulled up to Head O' Meadow elementary school in Newtown today with my sweet Keeley Rose, who was unusually quiet in the back seat. She held my hand tightly as they gave us the school tour, and left me bravely when they called her into the classroom where they had her literacy screening. Coming out of the room, she looked relieved and gave me the biggest hug, and I definitely had some tears in my eyes seeing what a big girl she really has become, and noticing how innocent she still was. I took her picture to send Emmet, looking up with that winning dimple, before we went home to relieve Aunt Patty of her babysitting Cora and Maury at home. Can't believe she's going to kindergarten...the sky is the limit :)

Mengels in Bethel!

It meant the world to us when Chris, Ellen, Meredith and Logan came East and made the extra trek down to Bethel from Springfield. Keeley and Cora were thrilled to spend time with their second cousin, Logan (4) and it was only minutes before they were all jibber jabbering in a language only they could understand. Mark was so generous to bring sandwiches from a local MA deli, and Zach, who came up with Ellie from NYC, provided plenty of beer, leaving little for me to do, but enjoy all of Emmet's fun-loving relatives and sit outside in the sunshine.

Grandma and Grandpa Fitz

I snuck in a trip to Long Island to visit my Mom after her hip surgery and had some beautiful time with my grandparents while I was in WB. Nothing more special that seeing them with Maury- old and young. The girls look forward to their time with their favorite doll of my grandmothers, "Sophia" and their tea parties. Also, as per tradition, and something I clearly remember from my childhood, an exit is not complete without a big bear hug from Gram and some chewy gum drops from the candy jar!

April Showers...

I never appreciated the rainy spring days until I had children. There's nothing they love more then putting on their raincoats and rain boots and going out to splash in puddles and get muddy. It reminds me to love everyday and take it as it comes.

My Little Mermaid

Keeley started Swimming Lessons at Ridgefield Rec this spring and she is loving every minute. I'm so impressed with the instruction- she has come so far in just a few short weeks. Here she is with her buddy Colten, in her new bathing suit from Nana RoRo.

Day to Day in April

Although the winter was fairly mild this year, the spring has teased us with some very cold weather. We've been inside a bunch, keeping me challenged at entertaining my three little ducklings.
